My name is Andrew Johnston, I'm a Class of 2023, 6'1", 210 lbs right-handed hitting catcher from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I have a 3.5 GPA. I'm a multi-sport athlete playing both baseball and hockey but my passion is playing baseball. I love being behind the plate, to compete, and I love the challenge of leading on the field. I believe being a high-level ice hockey goalie gave me the experience and perspective to be an excellent leader and catcher. Over the last half-year, I made the commitment to do school online and be in Florida playing and getting better. I was one of the first in my province to make that move and it's really paid off. I was selected for a second time to the Future Games and most important - won the respect of my coaches and fellow teammates for my hard work, sportsmanship, and performance. I made the decision to continue my time in the US by going to IMG in my senior year. And I'm taking a gap year after I graduate to keep improving as a player, person, and student. I'm continually getting better as a catcher and hitter. As a catcher, I know that I still have a lot of room to grow and improve my craft. Being a goaltender in hockey taught me that a highly technical position in a team sport takes a lot of training and commitment. My goals over the next year and a half are to continue to improve, get my pop times down in the 1.8s or better. I will continue to work hard at school, in the gym, and on the field of play.
