Hello, my name is Jacob Smith. My character is one of my best attributes. This has been developed throughout my life by my parents. They taught me the importance of sacrifice, a strong work ethic and a good education. I am currently a sophomore at IMG Academy in Bradenton Florida. I am originally from Northern Michigan, where the weather is not conducive to playing baseball. I cannot remember a time when I did not have a ball in my hand. My passion and love of the game has driven me to be where I am today. I am currently the starting pitcher for my team. I am also involved in three clubs on campus. My collegiate goals are to play baseball at the next level while continuing my education. I cannot see myself doing anything but being in the business of baseball. I would eventually love to play in the MLB and then become a coach or maybe even the General Manager. I am also extremely mature for my age due to my mother being blind. She was top in her class at the University of Central Florida where she earned her Bachelors Degree in teaching. She never used her blindness as an excuse for anything thus how could I? Also, she doesn't see this as a disability for me, it is just a minor inconvenience.
