My name is Nick Marini and I am a 6'3 1/2 185 lb LHP in the Class of 2018. I have a 4.4/4.00 cum GPA (weighted) and recently achieved a 1240 on my SAT test which I am scheduled to retake this fall. As a student athlete, it is my goal to attend a university with high academic standards and one that also has a competitive baseball program.
I attended St Rose High School in Belmar, NJ for my first two years and had the opportunity to attend IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL my junior year when my family temporarily relocated to Florida due to my fathers work. It was a great experience both academically and athletically as it allowed me to study and play ball with students from all over the world. It also gave me the confidence to know that I can compete with some of the best players in Florida. My family transferred back to NJ this past summer and I will graduate from St Rose High School in 2018.
I am a two sport athlete having played baseball and basketball during my first two years at St. Rose but this past year I focused solely on baseball which has always been my passion. I am a dedicated hard worker, a leader, a great teammate and a fierce competitor (this based on evaluations from my coaches at IMG). I have had a lot of success mixing what admittedly is an average (speed) FB but with a lot of natural movement and an above average breaking ball. I am able to push myself out of my comfort zone and adapt to difficult situations in order to succeed on and off the field. My dream since I was a young kid was to play college baseball and I am willing to do the work to fulfill that dream.
