I have been playing baseball since I was 5 years old, and through those many seasons I have been on teams that have won league district championships and teams that have lost every game we played that season. I think that baseball is a lot like life, sometimes things go your way, sometimes they don’t but you have to keep moving forward to get better. During one season when I was about 13 I found my voice as a leader on the team. Most of the pitchers were new to the team and were trying hard to impress the coach and their performance was not good. They were playing too tight. I was able to use my position as the catcher to lighten the mood and calm them both on the mound and in the dugout so they relaxed a little and performed the best way they could. They learned they could trust that I am going to get them the best look from the umpire and make them shine. I learned how to motivate different people and to keep calm under pressure.
As I complete my high school career I look back at all the things that I enjoyed. Friends, baseball, club activities, camps and even some of my classes. I even enjoyed my job. Being in customer service has taught me more patience and how to speak to people in a calm manner. I am looking forward to the next phase of my life.
