Every year the teacher would ask, "What do you want to be when you grown up, Jordan?" Each year the answer was the same, "I want to be a baseball player!" I can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't playing and thinking about the game. My desire to play has always been driven by my own love for the game, and motivation to improve.
On the field I bring everything I have mentally and physically, I give my best. My ability in my position as catcher is solid, dependable and defensive. I am calm and confident in calling the game. I am a power and contact hitter, feeling comfortable at the plate.
I am a player that gets along with everyone, I've always had the type of personality that is a team player and motivator. I connect with the players, coaches, and umps to not only make my experience out on the field the best it can be for my performance, but for my team. I am coachable, and believe there is always room for improvement. There has not been one game according to my parents where an Ump has not come up to my parents to tell them I was great to play with. I keep a positive attitude and that to me is one of the most important aspects of my game.
The classroom is an area of my life that challenges me to stay focused, improve, and to better myself academically and socially. I thrive in learning environments that provide an opportunity to be creative and work with my hands, taking Culinary for three years provided both. Currently I'm taking a course in Athletic Injury and Rehabilitation, it's definitely a class that has me interested in taking more classes like it in College.
The college that would be a perfect fit for me would be one that supports their athletes academically and athletically. For me my motivation to do well in school and push myself has centered around my desire to always have the opportunity to play sports. I think everyone has to find their motivation, what pushes them and for me it's always been baseball. The favorite question that every teacher had always was followed by, "What if you couldn't play baseball, what would you do?" You had to give another answer and firefighting always was the answer. To find a program that would academically support that career would be great. I'm open to possibilities and new opportunities.
