Growing up my mom and grandfather often took me to see the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. Ever since that first game at Camden Yards, I fell in love with baseball. My grandfather and I would talk for hours about baseball and when he played. We discussed many aspects of the game such as the importance of being a versatile player, having quick feet, and being aggressive at the plate. Over the years I have learned to stay calm in the midst of frustration. I used to take my frustration out onto the field but now I am disciplined and remain calm and focused on the game.
In 2019, I moved to Florida to play baseball year-round. I moved up an age group and had to adapt to swinging a drop 3. Even though the youngest on the team I have experience at every position except first base, have a quick reaction to the ball and a good instinct for the best angle to the ball. At a tournament in Sarasota, at the Orioles spring training fields, I was playing third and the batter hit a hard shot over the bag and I made a diving play with runners on first and second and was able to end the inning.
In the 20-21 baseball season, while a starter for varsity, I led the JV team to their only win of the season as the starting pitcher. I ended that game with 15 strike outs, 2 hits, and 1 run.
My academic goals for high school and college are to stay focused and achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher. I’m looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I believe I would be an asset to your team with my versatility, quickness, and my positive attitude.
