My name is Malik Young, every day I work to become an improved person, student, and athlete. I have played with and against some of the best competition throughout the country. I have been taught to conduct myself respectfully on and off the field, knowing the way I carry myself reflects the values I have learned from my parents, coaches and professors . This program is being run and overseen by Scott Hennessey, Florida Scout, and the Manager for the AA Tulsa Drillers for the Los Angeles Dodgers Organization. Scott has over 25 years of Professional Baseball experience in Scouting and Coaching. The Florida Dodgers Scout Team Program is a Developmental Program created to help your son reach his full baseball potential and become a better athlete. It is offered to Players with High School Graduation years: 2020, 2021 and 2022. Our staff will focus on the Person first and Player second. We want to develop strong young men and help them reach their goals, whatever they may be. Our instructors are hardworking, motivated and committed to helping your son train in a healthy and safe environment.

Starting shortstop Malik Young (2020, Jacksonville, Fla.) had a good day and showed off some tools in the process. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound prospect has good present size with some athleticism and showed off his chops to both sides with a solid arm too. He made a couple of difficult plays, one displaying the balance on a charge to his right, and another from a play deep in the hole to showcase the arm strength. The swing itself is a bit long at times but has a smooth barrel plane with some loft through the finish. The allows him to meet the ball on it’s plane and drive it on a line to all fields. With added strength and size, Young has a nice ceiling and is already a solid player for a talented Florida Dodgers Scout Team.

Malik Young, SS/RHP, Jesuit HS, FL (2020) Stands at 5-foot-10, 155 pounds with a lean, athletic, projectable frame. In the field he shows good actions, fields the ball under control, and shows good lateral movement going to his right and left. Made a couple of tough plays including a diving stop to his left which he then got up quickly and made an accurate throw to the bag. At the plate has a wide stance with good balance and a small step for his load. Displays quick hands and good hand eye coordination as he was able to make consistent contact during batting practice, showing the ability to go the other way with multiple line drives into right field. Young will only continue to improve as he adds to his frame and matures.

Malik Young (2020 SS, Brandon, FL): Does a very good job controlling the barrel, displaying a quick stroke through the zone that results in hard line drive contact all over the field. He also showed good athletic twitch to his actions in the infield; making him a very intriguing prospect to keep an eye on.
