Andrew Velez '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Andrew Velez and my goal is to play baseball at a University with outstanding coaching and an excellent academic reputation. I am 6'2'' and 190 lbs. I've been fortunate to grow up in Miami, FL where baseball is a year round sport.  It's my dream to play baseball in college. Not only am I a team player, but a leader as well. I work at keeping our team united, positive and focused on the goal of playing our best. We are a new young team at SLAM High School under the guidance of an excellent coaching staff. I am a firm believer in working hard to achieve my goals and playing my best. I think fast always knowing plays before they even occur. I am a student of the game: and with every play, practice and lesson, I will continue to grow and improve to be the best. 

As a HS freshman I started on the varsity in several positions, primarily SS and 3B as well as some pitching and catching.  I am a versatile player on the field and currently my positions are 1B and RHP.  I am not afraid of hard work on and off the field toward improving my skills everyday. I look forward to continual growth under experienced coaches and playing at the highest competitive level. I love the game of baseball and have learned to balance baseball with academics. I am focused and keep my composure as an infielder and on the mound.  

My location preference is some place warm but I am open to other climates/ locations if the fit is right. Academic interest is in science but I have not declared a major.
