I'm an easy student-athlete to have on your team. Before high school, school and baseball came easy for me. I was smart, athletically talented with a tall, strong build. Getting A's and being a preferred player in my positions didn't require tremendous effort. I worked hard, but things came pretty naturally. Through some trials in the acedemic rigor of the IB program and competing for playtime as a freshman playing varsity baseball, I realized quickly the landscape had changed. I learned there were no shortcuts to succeeding and meeting my goals. If I wanted to be get better, I had to commit to putting in the extra work on the field, in the cage, in the weight room and in the classroom. Putting in the work resulted in great results on and off the field. For my varsity baseball program, few awards are given at the end of the season. Being honored as "Most Improved Player" my sophmore year and the coveted "Gold Glove" award my Junior year was due to the hard work and the grit exhibited each day. While finding success on the field, I also made a personal commitment to succeeding in my scholastic work resulting in my GPA increasing _ _% from my sophmore to junior year. I'm a self-motivated, self-starter who doesn't require oversight to do what has to be done. I just do it. This has helped me develop the confidence and track record to not only succeed on and off the field, but also lead and mentor my teammates and classmates.
