Hello coaches my name is Diego Hurtado. I'm a 2023 grad, I was born in Venezuela, I currently attend Winter Park High School, I play baseball since I was 3 , I'm the only one in my family that plays baseball but my dad and my grandpa always used to watch it on TV. We moved here 5 years ago I'm the only in my family that speaks English. Baseball has always been an important factor in my life my goal is to make it to the highest level possible and I'm not going to be satisfied with just making it. I'm going to be in the hall of fame. What sets me apart from my teammates? I think is the determination that takes to call each play and be ready for the next one. Being a catcher is not just about throwing runners out and blocking balls, being a catcher is being the captain of the infield and supporting your pitcher when he needs you the most, as a catcher you have to anticipate the next play and execute without excuses, even when you are having a rough day at the plate, forget about it and be ready to execute the next play. As far as grades goes I will not be satisfied with having a B I will always try to have an A and be an excellent student and an excellent athlete. I think that being an elite baseball player also requires a ton amount of work that's why I live in the weight room and long toss almost every single day.
