Personal Statement

My name is Andrew Streuber, and I love playing baseball. I've played since I was five! I come from a legacy of serving others - I've volunteered for the past five years in a community preschool puppet show in my church, teaching good values and life lessons to 3–6-year-old children. I also volunteer annually in a distribution center for a nonprofit organization, packing boxes of essential humanitarian supplies. My great-grandfather was a US Naval officer in WW2 and landed with the 4th Marine Division at the Battle of Kwajalein. My grandfather played single-A ball with the Reds organization in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I hope this gives some insight into how I was raised, the values my family taught me, and that I embrace. My family has a legacy of service, and I admire and respect that. Family first. Team first. Service first.

I'm a senior at Archer High School and always focus on my schoolwork. I was the starting catcher for my sophomore year's freshman and JV teams. As a sophomore, I was pulled up to varsity at the end of my JV season.  I led my high school team in extra-base hits (8 doubles), hitting .409 my freshman year and hitting .350 my 10th grade (JV) season.  I caught every inning of every game during my freshman and sophomore seasons.

I'm earning my Private Pilot's license at Lanier Flight School in Gainesville, GA.  I've attended the following:

  • Society for American Military Engineers (SAME) virtual summer STEM camp in June 2021, hosted by the US Naval Academy (USNA).
  • USNA Summer STEM program in June 2022, where my platoon won three academic awards.
  • USNA Senior Seminar
  • US Air Force Academy Summer Seminar
  • Boy's State
  • US Coast Guard Academy Summer AIM program.

I also founded an aviation club at my high school.  I want to serve my country as a pilot, and playing college baseball along the way would be awesome. I work hard, grind it out, and lead my team behind home plate as a catcher.

I appreciate your consideration.
