Dustin Thelander '15 Recruiting Profile

My dream is to play college baseball as a catcher ideally at the Division I level.  If the opportunity arrises to play at the next level professionaly, that would be the ultimate dream for me.  I love the game.  I am 100% committed to doing everything it takes to succeed.  I have dedicated most of my extracurricular time to improving my level of play including participating in speed and agility classes, hitting the weight room hard, taking private lessons for catching instruction and for hitting instruction, attending camps at Vanderbilt, University of Texas, Florida State, Illinois State and Central Michigan and working with teammates on our own time to keep in top baseball shape.  I have began my season as a sophomore with the varsity team.  This is a dream come true and I have worked extremely hard to acheave this goal.  Now I have lead my team as a Junior to the Illinois State Finals. 

Beyond baseball, my dream is to work in the finance sector.  I would like to work my way up to being a fund manager.  This would not only allow me to love my job, it would also be a great way to comfortably support my future family and to give back to the community through charitable contributions.  Right now, I am working hard in school and have maintained a GPA of 3.95 which qualifies me for high honor roll.   I know that the effort I put forth now will help me get into the right college which will help me get the best education possible.  

Since both baseball and education are very important to me, playing college baseball would be incredible.
