Personal Statement

Hello- My name is Ryan Wenzel; I am currently a Junior and attend Danville High School in Danville, IN. I was born on February 14, 2006 in Plainfield, IN. I am currently 6‘1” and 190 LBS. I am a right hander hitter and right handed thrower. My primary position is Catcher and my secondary positions are Outfield and First Base. In my own words plain and simple, I am a ball player. I love the game of Baseball. I have been playing baseball since I was six years old. Ever since I first stepped onto the field, I have fell in love with the game. I respect the game and all the people I have played with. I have had the opportunity to learn the game from many great coaches. I know without them I wouldn't be the player that I am today. There is always more to learn. When I am not playing baseball or not in school I enjoy working out and umpiring youth games where I can help players younger than me grow their baseball dreams. School and baseball take up most of my time. I try to lift three times a week with some fellow teammates from my high school team. Over the winter months, I do speed and agility training plus hitting, pitching, arm care, and fielding lessons. I live and breathe baseball. My parents are very positive people that have always supported me in baseball that's one of the reasons I love playing so much. When it comes to college I would like to major in Business. If baseball doesn't work out I would like to get into the business side of baseball and recruiting side as well. As far as my most important accomplishments to date, I have played as a starter on the freshman, junior varsity, and this year as a starting varsity player for my high school baseball team as the primary Catcher with outfield as my alternate position. I have played travel baseball for 11 years most recently playing on the Indiana Expos starting as a Catcher and Outfielder. In conclusion, I would like to assure all of the college coaches interested in me that I'm a hard worker. I try to be a better student, baseball player, and person every day. On the field, I communicate clear and loudly. Coaches usually tell me that I am very coachable and always open to listening to advice. I plan to give everything I have all the time to reach my baseball dreams. Ryan Wenzel
