Personal Statement

Hello my name is John Cheatwood. I started out in Little League at Coach Pitch. From then on, I felt the passion for this sport that you would need, to succeed. My baseball life has been cultivated through great organizations - California Legends, West Covina Dukes, Whittier Kaos, So. Cal. Bombers, Indiana Prospects 15u Blue and now the Dayton Classics for the Summer 2015 season.  In the summer of 2013 we relocated from Southern California to Indiana due to my Dad's job.  I was blessed to have met the Indiana Prospects organization through PerfectGame and to have Shane Stout as the Director of Baseball Operations for our program. This fall I was blessed again when I was introduced to Gregg Beemer, President of the Dayton Classics.  I am already learning so much in my training with the Dayton Classics and cannot wait to see what our upcoming summer season will be like.  The past two seasons have been changed for me positively. My catching/leadership/captain ability has sky-rocketed upwards!

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Pumas Fall Prospect Camp
  • 10/05/14 to 10/05/14
  • 60 time - 8.01 Receiving - Athletic set up / above average receiver / strong hands / stops the ball Transfer - Unorthodox transfer that is quick and repeatable. You are comfortable doing it so don't change it. Footwork - Need to gain a little ground toward 2B / Current footwork is unorthodox that is quick but non repeatable / Gaining ground will allow you to repeat Arm - Above average arm strength / positive spin on baseball - this means the ball stays up and does not sail to right center field / Arm does not get fully back so we think there will be more arm strength in the tank / Could possibly move to a plus arm with the adjustment of slot Pop time - 2.11 / This could easily be a sub 2 with implementation of mechanical adjustments Swing - Compressed set up / We recommend to stand up taller and use size for leverage / This would be more comfortable and athletic Average to above average bat speed / project gap power with the ability to drive balls with back spin to the opposite field Hands could get back a tad more only if you're comfortable with the adjustment. You could see an increase in power if you had better separation on the back.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
