Personal Statement
I am a 6’2”, 185lb Right Hand Pitcher from Auckland, New Zealand. I am currently 17 years old and play for the North Shore City Baseball Club at the u19 and men’s Premier grade. I have also represented New Zealand at the u13, u15 teams and currently trialing for the u18 team. I have included my stats for the 2019/20 season below. I graduate from High School at the end of 2020 and am looking to start my USA College career in 2021.
I am different from other players in the fact that I have grown up in New Zealand where baseball is not a major sport, though I have gained exposure through representing the New Zealand National teams and competing in tournaments all over the world, including USA, Philippines, China and Taiwan, in order to keep improving as a player. Last year my regional team qualified through China to represent the Asia Pacific region at the World Series in Easley, SC which was a fantastic experience that confirmed my desire to pursue playing baseball at the highest level.
To continue my development as both a student and athlete, I need to move to the United States so I can play against high-level competition and also gain a college education. I am heavily committed to putting in the hard work to improve, and continue to prepare and train to make these goals a reality.
My goal for the next 5 years of my life is to grow both as a player and as a person, with plans of signing a professional contract after graduating. Since the premature end to our season due to COVID19 and the lockdowns we have had in New Zealand I have concentrated on strength and conditioning, resulting in adding 9kgs and improving my strength significantly.
