Personal Statement

My name is Andres Esquivel, I am a catcher for the American School of Guatemala. I have been described by the baseball coach and the sports director at my school as a leader, this is why I was chosen as the team captain. Pursuing improvement has always been a part of my character. I know how to balance my academics and athletics really well, I am looking forward to being able to continue doing so after High School. Also building a strong bond with my coach has always been really important to me.

ActivitiesI've been working as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity here in Guatemala throughout my entire High School career. We help families in need to improve their living conditions by building new homes and stoves. Additionally, I participated as a volunteer in the Baratillo since I was in 6th grade up until my senior year. It is a school community service event, in which CAG families donate used items for a "huge garage sale". The funds collected are used to buy Christmas baskets for the school staff. Leadership 100 (JROTC, Summer OPS -5 weeks) at St John´s Northwestern Military Academy (2018). Young Leaders, 5-day leadership course in Guatemala 2020. I also joined the Arduino Club in 11th grade.
