Louis Dean '24 Recruiting Profile

Since I was five years old, I have played baseball in Britain. At the age of 11, I began competing in European tournaments. I started as a pitcher and was the first defensive switch as a two-way player (P/UTL/MIF) for the Great Britain U18 national team last summer when I was 16 years old.  I had a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) at the WBSC U-18 European Qualifier, which helped Great Britain win and proceed to the Championship when I was needed most. As a young 16-year-old still growing physically and intellectually, I also had a 1.000 fielding%, 0.50 era on the mound, and a.167 BAVG against the defending champions in the 18U European Championship.

I have been selected to serve as the 18U captain for the upcoming 2024 European Championships this year (2023/2024 season).  

I was born and raised in the United Kingdom, and I currently attend one of the top institutions there while I continue my education. At the moment, my GPA is 3.75.

In the field, I make plays with my strong defence and crisp, precise throws across the diamond. At the plate, my plate discipline, speed, and agility but most importantly being intellectual at the plate are my true assets. As one of the team leaders at the age of 16, I take satisfaction in working as a team to become stronger and better. 

I've been playing club baseball in the BBF NBL, the top level of adult wood bat baseball in the UK, for the past three years.  I joined the league-winning London Mets this season and started at third base as a rookie, continuing to improve and advance both as a player and a person. With GB Head of S&C Alan Dean, I'm also using a Pocket Radar to concentrate on demonstrable improvements as I develop personally in the weight room and the cage.

Playing academic baseball in the US would help me develop as a student and athlete. I can't wait to move to a place where I can use the amenities and play every day.  In the appropriate environment, I think I can excel academically and as a two-way player. As a leader and a resilient teammate, I constantly strive to strengthen the bonds and connections within whatever team I am a part of.
