Personal Statement
My name is Luke Cronan and I am a 17 year-old Australian Baseball player graduating as a member of the class of 2015 from Ipswich Grammar School in Queensland. I aspire to play baseball at the collegiate level and complete my studies whilst doing so.
Graduating from Ipswich grammar School I finished with a GPA of approximately 3.3 (covering my results from the Australian grading system to the US system). In the classroom I study hard to maintain the highest results possible. In addition to playing I am also a volunteer coach and umpire at my club in Brisbane (Redlands Rays Baseball Club).
At the Under 18 Australian National Youth Championships in January 2016, I represented my state (Queensland). This tournament is the highest level available for Under 18 players in Australia and is a nine day tournament which requires each team to play eleven games. I started at 3rd Base in all eleven games at the tournament, hitting for an average of .390 , an on base percentage of .419 and a slugging percentage of .561.
Recently, I also competed at the Major League Baseball Australian Academy on the Gold Coast, Australia. Beginning on the 25th June through until the 23rd July where I began to pursue pitching.
I have been invited to play at the Arizona fall classic in a World Select team organised by the MLB as a RHP.
I am very keen to attend college where I can push myself both on the field and in the classroom.
