Personal Statement
Hi, I'm Nathan Major from Nassau, Bahamas. I've played baseball since I was a child, and my passion for the sport has only grown over the years. My dream is to go pro while earning a degree, and I believe college is the perfect platform to achieve both. My focus now is to find a college where I can excel both academically and athletically, making my family proud in the process.
As a baseball player, I excel in looking out for my teammates and leading by example. I am a coachable athlete, adaptable to any play style, and always eager to learn and improve. My determination and work ethic make me a reliable leader on and off the field. I can help my team create a chance of scoring runs with my hitting ability. In April, I was honored to be invited to play on the Bahamas national all-star team because of my exceptional hitting ability and the unique strengths I bring to the team. This experience not only highlighted my skills but also reinforced my commitment to contributing positively to any team I am part of.
Academically, I am committed to excellence. I pay close attention in class and strive for top grades to maximize my future opportunities. About what I do academically I try to relate those things to real life to my understanding and application of knowledge. I am also a part of many clubs such as the yearbook. Attending several sporting events has allowed me to contribute to the yearbook and gain appreciation for the passion and hard work that athletes put into their sport. This experience has also taught me the desire to be in the spotlight and the value of acknowledging everyone's efforts. I also helped with beach cleanups participating in beach cleanups taught me the importance of environmental preservation. I feel that keeping our community's environment clean and healthy is critical for the well-being of current and future generations. In my free time, I also like to cook and DJ. Cooking has been an essential skill for me, allowing me to take care of myself and understand the importance of a balanced diet. It has also taught me discipline and the value of preparing meals from scratch. Djing allows me to share to different types of music I love with other people and also introduce them to other music. I also work during the summer. Having a job has taught me the value of earning money and managing my finances. It created in me a sense of responsibility and independence, both of which are necessary characteristics for success in any career.
My goal is to attend a college where I can compete at the top level and acquire a degree that will help me in the future. I'm looking for a college setting that will challenge me to grow as a person and an athlete. I want to show the world that just because I am from a small country does not mean I cannot do big things. My biggest motivation is to make my father pleased by achieving academically and athletically.
