Personal Statement
Hi my name is Caleb Garven I am a RHP, 2023 Graduate from Newcastle, Australia.
Growing up in a country where baseball isn't very popular and my home town not having a big competition was a significant obstacle. I drove 3 hours 3 times a week to get to the next city (Sydney) to play in a more competitive league. I was selected from there for the 2020 and 2021 Macarthur Senior League team and the u18 Orioles State League team in 2020. I work hard and pride myself on never putting in anything less then 100% into every training and game. Even living 3 hours away I was still the first kid at the field everyday eager to work hard and improve every aspect of my game.
I attended a Catholic Boys College In Canberra where I was challenged and pushed to my limits. The school has very high standards that you have to meet on a daily basis and this has improved my attitude on and off the field. I now live in Newcastle, Australia where I attend an Anglican Private high school. This school has provided me with a weights trainer and a sprint coach which has helped take my game to the next level. My agility and strength have grown rapidly in the last 6 months. I also have a throwing program that has weighted balls which I complete 6 out of 7 days a week. I continue to travel to Sydney for training and games on a weekly basis and also play in my local Newcastle league.
