Personal Statement
I was introduced to baseball when I was 11 years old during COVID when our territory's borders were closed to keep out COVID. No planes were allowed in or out. That was when some parents re-started Little League so kids could play baseball. I fell in love with baseball. I started as a catcher and now I play as pitcher or short stop. When I was 12, I was clocking low 70's mph. When I was 13 and now 14, I am pitching in the mid 80's and I'm in 9th grade. I graduate high school in 2028. I went to private elementary school and my school didn't have a baseball team but we were allowed to play on high school teams. When I was in 8th grade, I played in the high school baseball league and in the 2024 season, I won the MVP athlete award and helped lead the high school team I played on to be the 2024 HS Baseball Champions. I have played on the American Samoa Ambassadors travel team for three years and am currently training with our travel team for the March 2025 Asia Pacific Games in New Zealand, a qualifier event for the Little League World Series.
I was born, raised and live in American Samoa (5 hours South of Hawaii by plane) and as a Samoan, I am raised in a culture where we as children are raised to be obedient to our parents, respectful to our elders and that we behave with kindness and generosity. The most important of our values is respect. My parents are strict and the most important things they teach me is to grow up to be a man of good character, integrity and to put in the hard work in all that I do.
I love baseball for the game but also because it is a team sport. I feel I am an athlete that helps uplift other players and help my teammates play better so we can get the wins. My dream is simply to play baseball. I want to play baseball anywhere. If I am blessed to play baseball in college, then I would do my very best so I can get a chance to be drafted to the MLB. That would be a dream come true. I would do everything I could to help develop baseball in American Samoa. There is a lot of resources for football and volleyball in American Samoa, but not much is given to baseball. Our people are known for football, but if there was more money put in baseball, I think we would be known for growing Samoan baseball players.
