Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Jack Chapleski and I am a senior in high school. I live in Dubai and attend Nord Anglia International school. I am currently enrolled on scholarship and am doing the international baccalaureate program. My official GPA is 3.45. Baseball in Dubai may seem different, I have had unique chances to play competitive baseball against high competition in parts of Asia through regional tournaments. In addition, during summer I have played on the West coast of the United States, and have attended a few camps in Hawaii when I was younger, and recently been to Perth Australia to play against many high level teams. I have fallen in love with this game, and how challenging yet rewarding it is. Baseball may not seem like baseball in America, but I feel that the way I have played baseball throughout my life has shaped me in positive and crucial ways. I want to get better every chance that I can seize, whether that is a grip change on a pitch, adding an RPM or MPH to my throw, running faster, hitting harder, anything really, I just want to do it through hard work in an athletic program that I suit and at the same time suits me. Not only that, but off the field I want to make sure that I learn in the fields that I am passionate about. Biology, English, social sciences like geography, etc. I hope that a university and I can meet half way, so that I can give everything I have to that college for 4 years of my life. I’m passionate about growing as a ball player and as a person, and I’ll work until I drop if that’s what it takes. I feel like my attributes in pitching and outfield are my most valuable traits, although I know that with those two things as well as hitting, I will always have room to improve my game. I really will give these next few years my all. I don’t know what life beyond has in store for me, but I know that I want to work at what I love whether that be baseball or cell biology, and see just how far I can push myself to be the best version of Jack Chapleski that is possible.
