Personal Statement
I began playing baseball once I reached the age of 5, influenced by my Granddad who was an umpire and the first in our family to get involved in the sport. I represented my region, Macarthur, for the first time when I was 9 years old. I have played baseball the majority of my life. I love the sport and want to continue playing throughout college in the USA which is the Australian baseball player's dream.
Since then, I have represented my State, (New South Wales) at the Australian Youth Championships in U14's, U16's and U18's and at the Australian Schoolboys Championships in 2017 & 2018. I have also represented Australia at the Cal Ripken World Series in 2013 and I was on the Australian Schoolboys team which toured the USA in September/October 2018. I was also a member of the Australian NxtGen team that played in the Junior & Senior Arizona Fall Classic in 2017 & 2018.
I am a 6'2" 198lb athletic Catcher who prides myself on my strong defensive game, leading by example, a versatile 3rd/1st baseman who is energetic, enthusiastic, aggressive but level headed with a strong baseball mind.
I am committed to my training always wanting to learn more about the game and myself in the interests of benefiting my team. I am coachable and highly motivated both on and off the field, striving to do my best in everything. I am a great team player and loyalty is important to me. I want to continue my studies and play baseball everyday which is something we don't get to do here in Australia.
I believe I would be an asset to your team and a proud student at your college if I was lucky enough to secure a position. Having an opportunity to obtain an athletic/academic scholarship would be fantastic.
Regards
Rhys
