Personal Statement
In 2020 I was accepted into a world exchange program, in which I travelled from my home in Melbourne, Australia, to the US, and lived in Michigan for the year. I fell in love with the idea of becoming a student-athlete in America. I am extremely grateful for my experience and time there, in which I created lifelong connections with my host family and school colleagues. The plan was to have a full Summer of baseball, but unfortunately, COVID-19 crashed that idea. As an aside, I didn't realise that in the US at High School and College typically use Aluminium bats, as in Australia I've only been using (and breaking) wooden bats.
For academics, I have a huge passion for the Sciences; taking Physics and Chemistry to help strengthen my knowledge and background for entry into Engineering degree in College. I absolutely love advanced Mathematics (including Calculus) too. I concluded Senior school Y12 in Cass City, Michigan at 15 years old with a GPA of 3.55-3.65, and have been incredibly eager for a chance to study in the US again. Once I returned to Australia, I played club ball in the Summer at Essendon Baseball club in juniors and seniors, and afterwards was blessed with the opportunity to train with the Academy of Baseball Excellence. Whilst training with the Academy of Baseball Excellence, I also be played a Winter season at the University of Melbourne, then Essendon for the next Winters, where I took out the batting awards for both 2022 and 2023. Despite starting baseball at 14 years of age, older than most players, I quickly realised my passion and admiration for the sport.
In 2022 I shifted to a large specialist School to further pursue my educational goals in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. I recently undertook my first SAT test, and gained results of 760 in Mathematics and 620 in English for at total score of 1380. In the US I'm looking to gain entry in 2024 to College to study Engineering, hopefully specialising in Chemical, Aeronautical or Aerospace.
Over the past few years, I have enjoyed seeing my skills improve and my strength increase after hours of training. Balancing my time between baseball and my education has also been beneficial, as it has taught me to create healthy, productive study habits, which yielded results in my academics as shown.
