Personal Statement
My name is Mauro Delgado Lopez, I am 5'9" and weight 175 pounds. Born and raised in Havana, Cuba. At the age of 5, I moved to Amsterdam, Netherlands.
I was 11 years old when I first started playing baseball at a local club. It was love at first sight. Since then I never stopped playing baseball and devoting myself to become the best. After playing a season at my local club I transferred to a new baseball team called 'The Amsterdam Pirates'. We became national champions under 12 that year. After having a wonderful year with the Amsterdam Pirates. I was eligible to get scouted for The Baseball Academy Amsterdam Diamonds. I have played for The Academy ever since. The Dutch competition has six different Academies all scattered around the nation. All equipped with the best players in the nation U15 and U18. The Academies are organized by the MLB. Ever since I played at the academy I have played first base and played several times at third base. I have always been a power hitter in the lineup and aggressive on the bases. With great speed. A great leader on the field as off the field who understands the game and sets up the game plan as well as the gameplay. I have been entrusted with the role of being the team captain in my U12 team and since my 3rd year at the Academy.
Why am I the best fit for your organization? I am not going to tell you how great I am, just like every other student-athlete. My references will speak for itself. The only thing that I can tell you is: if you put me on a treadmill and I am fighting for a spot on the team. I am going to die on that treadmill unless my opponent quits. That’s how hard I am willing to fight and work in order to achieve my goals.
What am I looking for a college? I am looking for an environment where I can grow to my fullest potential on the field and off the field. I have been advised to go to Juco in my first year so that is what I am aiming for. But if I can get an offer for a 4-year school I will take the shot. Also, I would like as a study Physical therapy, physical education or Chemistry. My goal in America is simple, win a national championship and get a good degree. I am not overconfident, don't get me wrong, I am not the new Bryce Harper or the new Mike Trout. But I will outwork everybody to realize my goals and that is a promise!
I am glad you took your time reading my personal statement and hope to see you on the field.
