September 2014Personal Statement
I currently a Sophmore catcher at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, IA. I carry a 3.36 GPA and was named to the Dean's List both semesters my freshman year. I pop a 1.77 with an 95 Exit Velo and hit .317 my freshmen season.
I believe that baseball is the best sport in the world and should be played that way. The little polished things a player can do, the simple hustle and hard work to respect the game, players and coaches are very important and that no matter where you are at, or what you are doing it matters and should be to your best ability.
I want to pursue my dream of playing baseball at the highest possible level. I am willing to do my best to pursue that goal and make it a reality. I will work harder and harder every single day and get better day by day, pitch by pitch, no matter how big of a jump or small of a step forward.
My goals are actually very simple….
1. Lead my team/teammates to be the best they can possibly be, and further.
2. To become the best baseball player and person I can possibly be.
3. To get a college degree while playing baseball.

- Named to Top Prospect Team. Max McCay is a 2016 C/RHP with a 5-8 185 lb. frame from Carlisle, IA who attends Carlisle. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Left handed hitter with a balanced, straight stance and quiet front side trigger. Shows a balanced lower half throughout swing with occasional shift into contact. Compact, line drive swing plane with and inside path to contact. Primarily used the middle of the field throughout batting practice but flashed the barrel control to work the ball to each foul line. Tends to have a tighter hand set, flashed bat speed to all fields when the swing was loose. Worked out defensively from behind the plate with a low set and good hip flexion. Quick arm cirlce and exchange while getting the ball out very quickly. Has downhill angle on throws to second that were consistently on top of the bag, best pop of 1.95. Soft hands while receiving and handeled high velocity pitcher well. High intensity player that hustles constantly. Outstanding student.

- This is an indoor pithing and hitting tournament league for HS players. Ran by Mitch Wylie with eleven years of professional baseball playing experience, along with twelve years of providing lessons, gives Mitch the ability to implement the proper training and coaching techniques that will help you to be the best all-around player you can be. Frame by frame video analysis software will be used during both pitching and hitting lessons to help in teaching proper mechanics. The software allows for side by side evaluation to track a student’s progress. It also provides a database of Major League Baseball hitters/pitchers and Olympian softball hitters to be used as an instruction tool and during side by comparisons.

Also pitched, works from the stretch, rock back delivery, high 3/4's to over the top release. Fastball topped out at 81 mph, mostly straight. Big downer curveball a good pitch with depth and hard spin, late biting action. Good feel for change up with arm speed and late life, threw strikes with all pitches and had some pitchability. High energy player with good overall athleticism. Good student. PG Grade 7.5
