Nolan Monthei 2016Personal Statement
My name is Nolan Monthei I am in the 2016 class of Johnston High School Johnston Iowa. I would like to continue playing baseball once high school is over, I believe I can make a positive impact for any college baseball program. I also start at defensive back on the Dragons football team.
I know that wherever I go to play college baseball that I will be one of the hardest working student athletes in the program. I have had coaches including the weight and football coaches commented positively on my work ethic. I am the type of person that when I see an area I can improve on I will work extra hard on the area until I have master it. I realized last fall I needed to get a bigger frame to catch at the varsity level and I have added 25 pounds to get to 180.
Although I am currently catching and playing third base for my high school team, over the years I have played every position including pitcher and I know I can play any position at a high level.
In 2015 I batted .387 leading the team in doubles (14) and slugging % .529. Collected 30 RBIs, Stole 13 bases and scored 32 runs earning 1st team All Conferance, 1st All North Central District and 1st Team All Western Division.
In 2014 started 37 games, batting .388 with 40 hits on the Johnston Dragons baseball team that made it to the 4A State semi-finals. First Team Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association All-District as a catcher. North Central 4A
