Hi, my name is Zach Grau and I played high school ball at Boone County High School in Florence, KY. I was a two sport athlete playing both football and baseball at the varsity level. I continued my baseball career at Edison State CC in Piqua, Ohio where I made the conversion to the outfield. My first two years there have been Covid Years and did not count towards any athletic eligibility. I graduated with an Associates Degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering. My last 3 semesters there I made the Deans list and Academic All Conference Team. I played this summer for the Bayback Boaters in Sandusky, Ohio. I am playing on returning to Edison State and will still be considered a freshman. I am hoping for an opportunity to play baseball at the D1 or D2 collegiate level and make a positive impact on the team in whatever role that may be. It is important to me to not only represent the baseball team in my play with hustle and dedication but also the college or university with my behavior.
There have been lots of things that have molded me into the person that I am today. With both of my parents being in the public service field as a police officer and registered nurse I have learned that there is more to life than just having a job or making money but about helping others and having a purpose. But the thing that has shaped me the most was actually a negative thing. I was diagnosed at the age of 3 years old with Type 1 diabetes. I quickly found out that life is not always fair but also that the world does not stop for anything. I cannot take a day off of managing this disease or it will have a negative effect on me and I cannot sit around feeling sorry for myself. There are bumps in the road where my blood sugars are high or low but I have to keep going and for the last 13 years I have while playing multiple sports and keeping my grades at a good level.
