As a kid living in the small community of Bar Harbor, I grew up playing sports with my neighbors and family members. My brother and I often played basketball and baseball in the front lawn after school, breeding our competitive nature that we bring to the field. I started playing baseball when I was four years old and continued playing through middle school, pursuing Little League, multiple All-Star teams, and travel ball in the summers. My versatility as a player allows me to move from infield positions to catcher, outfield and pitching when necessary. My coaches often describe me as calm and steady, both on the field and as a member of the team, which positioned me to become the lead batter for my high school baseball team for three years. My ability to work with players who have differing experience than myself shows my dedication to the sport while upholding my humble disposition of believing in other’s capabilities. Additionally, I am an all-state three-sport athlete with golf and basketball.
Academically, I lean heavily towards mathematics and the sciences. I am considering professions in nursing, computer science, and engineering. I enjoy how the classroom and athletics allows for reflective learning; a space where multiple perspectives and taking risks are encouraged, along with the value in keeping perspective and, most importantly, enjoying the game. Being the third child of four, I hold value being a part of a pack while maintaining a positive, focused mindset that allows for others, along with myself, to perform to their best and support one another through the game. After our Bar Harbor/Ellsworth Legion Team made an unexpected run this summer to the American League World Series, I gained a desire to continue playing baseball in college as I led the team in average and OBP as one of the youngest players on the team. My experiences, from nightly card games with my teammates to playing on Holy Cross and then North Carolina’s turf, supported me in understanding the importance of baseball in my life and the community created!
