Owen Russell '28 Recruiting Profile

My name is Owen Russell and I’m a freshman at Nokomis Regional High School, class of 2028. I’ve been playing baseball since the age of 4. I’ve played 3 years of middle school baseball, and also 4 years of travel ball, recently playing in the Select League Elite division for the 13U Maine Prospects Baseball Club.

This offseason, I’ve been working at developing multiple positions beyond middle infield and pitching. I’ve been learning the ins and outs of 3rd base, and have challenged myself to become a good outfielder. I believe by doing this, I can be an asset to our High School team coach with my versatility as an incoming freshman.

This school year I’ve been doing my best to acclimate to a heavy honors workload. My family puts an emphasis on good grades and success in the classroom. I try my best to be a leader in the school community, by committing myself to JROTC and an officer on student council. I also am part of the freshman math team.

My goal is to work hard enough in high school to earn an opportunity to attend a college/university that has a good engineering program. I’m unsure if I want to be an electrical or mechanical engineer, but I do want to pursue a career as an engineer. 

I would be a great addition to your baseball program because of my work ethic in both the classroom and on the field. As a coach’s kid, I understand the importance of being versatile for the sake of team over self.
