Suffering from an injury, which removed me from physical activity for a while, taught me how to work through trying times. I also feel like I've been given a second chance to play the game I love, so I want to do whatever necessary to be able to continue to play at the next level. When I had to finally give up baseball for a while, due to a freak football injury, I was leading my High School team with a batting average of .464 (13 for 28). The coaches were just getting ready to move me up to Varsity, as a Freshman, when the pain in my lower back got to the point that I couldn't compete anymore. I am so thankful to be back on the field again, injury free and playing the game I love so much.
On my High School team (transferred to Sterling Heights Stevenson this year from Cousino), as well as my summer travel team (Detroit Metro Stars last three years), I have batted anywhere from 3rd to 5th batter in the line up. I have played outfield mostly, but have played 3rd base and SS quite often as well. I am known for being able to throw out runners on the base path at any base from the outfield. I am also known for hitting for power as well as for average. No matter where I play defensively, I am usually told that I take good paths to the ball. I also pitch for both my High School and Travel teams and have done quite well. I throw in the low 80's but am working hard to improve. I have not been able to attend any PBR events do to being injured last year (freshman year), but I will be attending a few this year.
I feel like I would be an asset to your program and represent your school well, because I am a man of good character, honesty, great work ethic, and I'm committed to becoming the best baseball player that I possibly can. You can trust that I will not be an embarrassment to your program in any way. I will work hard for you and represent you and the college well in every way possible.
