My name is Ryne Christensen, and I attend Whitehall High School in Muskegon, Michigan. While going through this recruiting process, I hope to find a competitive program that has a family-like atmosphere, a coaching staff that views me as more than just an athlete and will help me reach my goal of becoming the best baseball player I can become. Also, I hope to find a university that will help me to continue growing as a student.
I know I will be an asset and add value to any team I play for. I hold myself to a very high standard; when I fail to do something on or off the field, I work hard to improve in those areas. I am a leader who leads by example, and I find this just as or even more effective than leading by words. I love and respect the game of baseball, and I embrace the fact that the game revolves around failure. I love that the game allows me the highest of highs and forces me to deal with the lowest of lows. I know what it’s like to be the hero, but I also know what it’s like to fail, and I am very proud of my ability to effectively work through BOTH the highs and the lows. Because of my love and respect for the game, I carry myself with the “next-play” mentality, which is always looking into the future trying to make the next play or the next pitch, not focusing on the result of the last play. It’s my love and respect for the game that also makes me a dedicated, hard worker who is willing to go to any length to make myself better than my opponent. I am on the wrestling team in the winter, and two nights per week, I leave wrestling practice and drive 45 minutes to get extra drill-work on pitching, fielding, and hitting. I am excited to bring my dedication to baseball to a college program.
My goal in baseball is to become the best player I can be, I want to know that I gave 100% effort every time I walked onto the field, and I want to test myself at the highest level I can. I want to become the best teammate I can be by pushing not only myself but my teammates to do something greater than themselves. Also, I hope to learn and master college coursework and decide on a career path to take after my baseball career has come to an end.
