My name is Trip Benson I am a Senior shortstop at Pine Grove High School in Ripley, MS and am very interested in playing baseball at the collegiate level. Although my size seems small, I am a young Senior who strives to be a 5-tool player and whose body is just starting to fill out. I am a student of the game and have a good baseball IQ. I am the first one on the field and the last one to leave. It has been my goal, since I was 10 years old, to out work everyone! I strive daily to reach this goal. I enjoy being coached, challenged, and pushed so that I can be the best baseball player and person that I can be. I enjoy being a teammate and competing. I believe in practicing at full throttle, never giving in to pain or outside circumstances. If your not going to dive for balls in practice, your not going to be able to execute the dive in a game. I will encourage teammates to embrace this same philosophy. I believe that one must respect the game, that it is a privilege to play the game, and that effort and hustle are choices that one must be all-in with.
I have a 4.22 weighted grade-point average, am the Valedictorian of my class, the Star Student, made a perfect score on the state biology exam, am a member/president of the "Fellowship of Christian Athletes", am a member of the "Beta Club", and am a member of the "National Honor Society". I have also earned my Eagle Rank with the Boy Scouts of America.
Everyone brings unique talents, gifts and abilities to the world, and some of mine are my strong will, determination, work ethic and character. I would love to play baseball for your university and maybe give back some of the things that I have been so blessed to have experienced in my life.
