INTRODUCTION
My name is JonLuke Hobdy, a 5 foot 10, 135-pound right-hand dominant player. I am currently a student at SLAM Academy of Nevada, otherwise known as Sports Leadership and Management, going into my junior year of high school. I have been a scholar-athlete throughout my high school career and I am looking to maintain the high-Grade Point Average I’ve had for my Freshman and Sophomore years. I have my upperclassmen years ahead of me and I hope to achieve the goals I’ve set out for myself academically and in sports. I’ve played baseball for most of my life and fell in love with the game and the work ethic it takes to succeed in the sport. It has taught me many things such as failure is inevitable and how far hard work and talent takes you. I was honored to be named one of the four captains for the Varsity team during my freshman year and look to further my career and take the sport as far as I can. I’ve had many great mentors steering me in a great direction and I would love to compete at the next level and continue on the path I have set out for myself.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Throughout my first two years of high school, I have earned four scholar-athlete awards(3.5 GPA or higher), two Varsity Athletic awards, a golden bar 4.0 GPA award, and was one of the four Varsity captains my freshman year. I have played in the Little League World Series when I was twelve and the USSSA world series in Florida a year after moving to Nevada. I plan to work toward receiving many more baseball and academic reward in my last two years of high school.
INSPIRATION AND LOVE FOR THE GAME
I was born and raised in San-Diego California until 2016 when I moved to Nevada which is where I currently live. I was introduced to the sport when I was an Infant by my father. My father has been the predominant person to help lead me on a path to success and who has given me all the tools to be the best possible version of myself. Since I could remember he has expected nothing but 100% effort out of me whether that was in practice, games, school or life. I found a passion for the game when I was young and since never have slowed down. I give thanks to my family for the endless support and advice I have been feed for years. I am inspired by my grandfather who took his struggling family from the Philippines to America to live a better life and work hard to make his family happy. His work ethic and grind to live a better life has always had an influence on me and I like to think I have adapted that powerful work ethic.
Preference
I am open to play and compete for any team who gives me the opportunity to. I look forward to playing at the next level and I do believe I have the work ethic in school and in sports that it takes to be a collegiate student-athlete. I hope to study in the medical field in college while I compete on the field.
