Personal Statement

My name is Troy Fowler, and I go to a small high school in Sunapee, New Hampshire. I'm a little over 6'1" and I weigh around 175 pounds, depending on the day. As a varsity baseball player at Sunapee, I made third team all-state freshman year and second team during my sophomore year. I played the first half of my sophomore season without the ability to use my left wrist very well, because I hurt it playing basketball in the weeks leading up to the season. My statistics from my sophomore season weren't outstanding, in some ways due to this fact. I honestly feel that I would have been first team if it hadn't been for the injury in the first half of the season. I played American Legion baseball last summer for Rob Woodward, who played for the Red Sox a while back. That was a great experience for me, to have him as a coach, as well as to play with and against some of the best players in New Hampshire. Although I wasn't named a captain on my varsity team, I was one of the most prominent leaders on the field. I'm not the loudest person out there, but I lead by example, and I like to think that my love for the game influences others on my team. I always work my hardest, no matter if we're up by a lot or down by a lot. My life dream has always been to play at the highest possible collegiate level that my ability allows me to play at. I'm looking for a middle-sized school, one with a campus, not right in the middle of a city. Although I want a campus, I don't want to be secluded. I want there to be something else other than the college or university wherever I go, although I'm open to anything. The academics are also very important to me, so going to a school with high academic standards is important to me as well. I really haven't picked out a major that I'm sold on, but as of right now, I plan on going into some form of law. My goal for playing ball in college is and always has been to play baseball at the highest competition level possible for me. I love playing the sport of baseball, and it would be an honor for me to play it in college.
