My name is Joseph Sclama- I am currently a Junior and attend Manchester High School in Manchester, New Jersey. I am a left handed pitcher, first baseman, and hitter.
Winning the South Jersey, Group 2 State Championship as a Sophomore was the highlight of my school career. I was fortunate to pitch in the quarter final round and the championship game where I grew as person, player and teammate. Due to COVID, there was not a Freshman baseball season for me to play. As a Sophomore, I made the Varsity Team and played the positions of pitcher and first baseman.
I train, attend camps, and play travel baseball with Intensity Baseball located in Farmingdale, New Jersey. In the offseason, I work with a trainer for strength and conditioning, and take arm strength classes (Bio-Pitch) to help increase my pitching velocity and practice proper arm care. I routinely take batting practice, and begin pitching bullpens before the Spring season. I continually strive to become a better person and player every day. I have learned the value of teamwork and commitment and know that is is an ongoing part of my baseball journey.
I have a strong work ethic in academics, where I currently hold a 3.82 grade point average. My goal is to pursue a degree in either business and/or finance and play baseball at the collegiate level.
My biggest influences are my parents, who both support the furthering of my education and baseball aspirations at the college level. What I can offer to a team is commitment, hard work, never giving up, and giving my all day in and day out. I am open minded about colleges and hope to find a college that fits me the best.
