June 2020Personal Statement
Hi my name is Alex Marino and I am looking to attend a strong academic school that will also allow me the opportunity of playing baseball at the highest level possible. I am extremely driven both on and off the field, as I currently have a 4.0 GPA and started on my high school varsity baseball team as a freshman. I put in a lot of work as both a student and an athlete and will bring both a positive impact and hard work ethic on and off the field.
I am a 5'10 175 pound INF/RHP and will play where ever I am most needed, so that the team can win baseball games. I have had a dream of playing at this level since I was 10 and have continued to work hard to succeed and get better.
I transferred to Notre Dame as a sophomore, and experienced some hard times initially, but with the help of my baseball teammates, I was able to quickly adjust to the new school. Talking to my guidance counselor about the adjustment, I realized that not every transfer student had the support of teammates and was able to start up a Peer Leadership group focused on transfer students that now has attracted 10 follow transfers. We are in our first year and it has been a successful program which ended up to be even more important considering the hybrid learning experience we are going through with Covid.
