Who knew when I started playing t-ball at 5 years old that it would shape me into who I am today? Playing baseball has been so much more than how to throw, catch or hit a ball. I have learned that hard work and dedication can help you achieve your life goals. Watching my dad anchor television sportscasts and hanging out with college athletes peaked my interest in competitive athletics at a young age. I began playing competitive travel baseball when I was 9 years old. I loved the busy workout and practice schedules in addition to the busy weekends on the road playing in tournaments. Once I knew this was my life goal, I was motivated to join the Baseball Performance Center in Pleasantville, NJ for daily instruction alongside top professional, collegiate and high school players. I love the collaborative environment to help me reach my goals.
I bring my competitive fire into the classroom as well. I graduated Davies Middle School with straight A’s in honors courses as the President of the National Junior Honor Society. I just completed my Freshman year at Oakcrest High with straight A’s in honors courses in addition to completing an Early College Program affiliated with the local community college affording me the opportunity to graduate high school with an Associate Degree.
As a Freshman on the Varsity Baseball team, elected as a team co-captain, I was tasked with pitching against some of the highest ranked teams in the state. I started our Championship Game in the Al Hedelt Tournament leading our team to the tournament title. These tough games pushed me to be a better pitcher learning how to have better command of my pitches and develop the mental toughness needed in high stress situations.
I pride myself on being an all-around student-athlete. I play the Tenor Saxophone in the high school band in addition to playing basketball on the high school team. My out-of-school activities include achieving the Life Rank in Boy Scouts as a Senior Patrol Leader working towards my Eagle Scout Award. I also participate in my local church as an Altar Server and activity volunteer. Through all of these activities, I have learned that hard work, dedication and a lot of time management strategies are important leadership skills and have a huge impact in achieving life goals. I am eager to bring all of those qualities to the right college program.
