Personal Statement

I aspire to attend a college that provides me with a solid educational foundation and involvement in a baseball program that further develops my baseball knowledge and skills.  I am looking to play for a team which is well rounded, plays as a unit, believes in winning and consistently gives 100% effort.

I strongly believe I will be an asset to any baseball team.  I have a high "baseball IQ", lead by example and love the game.  I understand the need to control the game and understand/connect with my pitchers. If my pitchers do not succeed, I am probably not doing my job and need to adjust. As a hitter, I strive to put the best swing I can on the ball, always understand the game situation and pitch count.  As a catcher, I call and see pitches all the time and therefore have a good idea of what the next pitch is likely to be.

As a catcher I have strong blocking and receiving abilities, my pop-time is low, possess strong hitting mechanics and most of all lead the team. I differ from other recruits because I understand and consistently work to limit my weaknesses and maximize my strengths. I am committed to making a strong connection with my pitchers and contributing as needed to make overall team better. As my coaches have taught me, "so what...next pitch"; I strive to make the best out of the current situation and do not dwell on the past.  Throughout my short baseball career, I have had good and bad days.  Each time I fail or succeed I try to learn something new from that experience and grow.  In academics, my school work and grades are just as important as success on the field and I currently hold honors for my achievements.   I am solid behind the plate, accustomed to playing with injuries, and you will not hear me complain.  I enjoy keeping my eye on the prize!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
