I have been playing baseball for as long as I can remember. Going down the street and throwing with my brother and my dad was what first got me interested in this game. As years passed quickly, I remember going from tee ball, to little league, to my high school varsity experience. Besides my immediate family, the people I hold closest to my heart are my teammates and coaches that have helped me throughout this journey.
Being a baseball player is great, especially at Morristown Beard. Our head coach believes in being your “best self every day”, so when players step on the field, that mindset is our focus. Playing with a shared vision is responsible for our team to have had an unbelievable season last year. Finishing second in the state in Non Public B, and capturing a state-sectional title, despite COVID, was an unforgettable accomplishment. Starting in centerfield and batting in the top of the lineup as a sophomore taught me so many valuable lessons that I hope will translate to the next 2 years of my high school career.
Knowing how to balance my academic and athletic performances with the other areas of my life is what will help me to excel. Going to The Morristown Beard School has taught me the importance of community and collaboration. Just like the baseball field, the classroom needs the same level of community and dedication that I put forth in the dugout and on the field everyday with my teammates. As an 11th grader, along with receiving a top notch education, I have grown to realize how challenging it is to balance my athletic life with my academic and social lives. I am looking to improve this skill in my last two years of my high school career which will hopefully translate to my collegiate career.
One of my biggest interests besides baseball is helping others, that is why, in 2019, I held a fundraising event for my local little league. In this event, I held a Home-Run derby for the 12 year olds, while collecting monetary donations along with clothing and food. I donated these funds, food and clothing to a homeless shelter in my community. This experience has taught me so much about being a member of a community which is much like being a teammate. Growing up adopted, the idea of family was something that I prioritize, and doing the things with the people I love is what I define as family. Putting others first will only help me at the end of the day which is what I strive towards improvement. The game of baseball is much more than just a game, it has taught me lessons that I will use for a lifetime. I am looking forward to playing the game at the collegiate level with a community of players and coaches who will want to make a difference.
