2020 SpotlightPersonal Statement
I am looking for a school that will allow me to grow personally, academically and athletically. My goal is to explore a major (such as exercise science) that will position me for a career in a medical field such as rehab sciences, occupational therapy or physical therapy. I will strive to be an asset to the pitching rotation and batting line-up.
Academics and athletics are important to me. I am passionate about pitching and I can be cool and composed under pressure; even if the fielders around me are having a bad day, I just try to focus on getting the next batter out.
I enjoy watching sports in my free time; my favorite sports to watch are baseball and ice hockey. Last summer, I obtained my lifeguard certification and enjoyed working as a lifeguard in our town pool when I was not busy playing baseball.
Most importantly, I will conduct myself with respect on and off the field and will proudly represent the school that I attend.

- 6-foot-1, 170-pound athletic frame. Began in a balanced tall stance with a small load, then used a quick stride before his swing. Bat speed is average, uses flat swing plane and level finish. Line drive approach. the right-handed hitter clocked an exit velocity of 88 mph. From the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 76 mph; shows sure hands, athletic feet and a clean exchange. Used a high ¾ slot with a compact arm action. On the mound, had a high ¾ arm angle and a compact arm action. Used easy effort in his delivery. He has even shoulders and tall balance point. Displayed an athletic finish Produced a fastball that came in at 76-78 mph; has running action and arm side command. - 7/29/19 Offensively- the right handed hitter stands in the box in wide athletic stance. Short simple load and quick path to the hitting zone. Displayed hard contact during batting practice. Exit velocity off the tee was 80 MPH. Defensively- the 1B, sits back on the baseball. Takes his time to gather himself when making a throw across the infield. Throws from a high ¾ slot with long arm action. As an OF, Kaplan displayed active footwork. Shows above average exchange and quick release on throws from the OF. Pitching- the right handed pitcher displayed a repeatable balanced delivery. Kaplan worked with a three pix mix. FB peaked at 74 MPH, CB has tight early spin ranging from 62-65 MPH, and CH was 66-67 MPH. Kaplan has a projectable frame and will be a player to follow as he continues to develop.
