My name is Brayden Wolfgram and I am currently a senior attending Thompson Public School in Thompson, ND. I am a right handed hitter and thrower, with my primary positions being pitching and 3rd base. My secondary positions include: catcher, shortstop, and 2nd base. I think what sets me apart on any baseball team is my versatility, my work ethic, my coachability, and my competitiveness.
When I'm not playing baseball or in school, you can find me at the lake with friends and family, on the golf course with teammates, or in the gym or weight room improving myself for baseball and basketball. I lift 4-5 times per week during the offseason, and 3-4 times per week in season. In the summer I take part in the speed and agility program through our school. I also have coached in our Little League program the past two years. Although baseball is something that takes a lot of dedication and time out of my life, it doesn't seem that way to me. I love going to baseball practices and getting better. Taking ground balls is one of my favorite things to do.
As far as my most important accomplishments, I have started on our varsity team since my freshman year, on arguably one of the best programs in North Dakota baseball. In the past 3 years, our team and my individual accomplishments are as follows: We placed 3rd in state in 2021, and are back to back State Champions, winning the titles in 2022 and 2023. This past season, I was named to the All-Region team. I was also proud to be 1 of only 6 juniors that were named to the 1st Team All State team. I am very proud of these individual accomplishments, but even more proud of our team's success. I believe the additional time I put in during fall baseball helped me achieve this award.
Many coaches tell me how good of a leader I am, and I was unanimously voted the sole captain of our varsity basketball team my junior year. While I do consider myself a great leader, I think my best trait is how coachable I am. I am always looking for ways to improve, enjoy communicating with coaches, and appreciate their feedback. I never have to be asked twice to change the way I am doing something, and I think this type of flexibility is very important when transitioning to different programs or working with different coaches.
Regarding school size, I am leaning towards a smaller school. Coming from a small town in North Dakota where I enjoy communicating with my teachers, I don't want that to be lost in a large campus setting. This preference could change after going on visits throughout the year. I am leaning towards the midwest geographically, to allow my family to attend games. With that being said, if the right opportunity presented itself, I would choose the path that had the best coaches and most competitive baseball.
I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to read my personal statement.
