I love baseball. I started playing in the local Rec league at age 4 and moved into travel ball in 5th grade. There was a period where I broke my ankle several times in the same year spanning seventh and eighth grade. I couldn’t catch a break. It was frustrating and hard for me as I was also playing basketball at the time and had to sit out the season. I wasn’t able to play and grow as an athlete the way I wanted.
That summer, my parents encouraged me to take a break from travel ball and go back to where it began. I signed up to play Rec Baseball with all my friends from our neighborhood. I had the best summer and I was able to regroup and regain my love of the game. I went to PT to gain back strength and stability in my ankles. I worked hard on my hitting and pitching. I shared what I knew about the game with teammates who hadn’t had the opportunity to be coached at the travel/club level. My friends and I still talk about that summer season.
I met my current travel coach, DJ Oates, at our local D-Bat during the summer of 2020 prior to my sophomore year at Trinity High School. Initially, I went to Coach Oates for help improving my hitting, but he has become so much more than that. He and I share a mutual passion for the game of baseball. He recruited me to be on his Pronine Baseball travel team. He is such a positive force on my baseball journey. He pushes me to be better, work harder, and get stronger.
My hitting is strong and I have yet to reach my full potential. Same with my pitching—I am working with a pitching coach with the goal of hitting 84+ mph by the start of our Summer 2021 season. I cannot wait for High School baseball to begin! Having our season cancelled last Spring was just so disappointing. However, I used the time to lift weights in our home gym, throw and hit outside, and of course continue to make the honor roll and improve my GPA.
I’ve attached some hitting videos from this past summer in my profile. Additional videos can be seen on my Twitter feed.
My goal is to play baseball at the college level and I am doing all I can both in the classroom and on the field to prepare for recruitment. I am a strong physical and mental player. I pitch, play third base and the outfield, and I hit with power and consistency. I love the game and being part of a team. I look forward to showing interested colleges what skills and attributes I can bring to the team.
