June 2015Personal Statement
My name is AJ Ernst and I just finished my junior year (Class of 2017) at Stephen T. Badin High School in Hamilton, Ohio. I have a challenging academic workload that includes Honors/AP level classes in Math, Science, and English. I am currently ranked in the top 5 of my class with a 4.0 GPA & 4.8 weighted GPA. In addition to my dedication in the classroom, I am dedicated on the field as well, playing multiple sports at Badin. In addition to playing baseball, I also play football and played basketball through my sophomore year. My current summer baseball team is the 17U Rams Baseball Club which competes at the National League level in the Southwest Ohio League. My RBC team plays a tournament heavy showcase schedule against top regional and national competition. On the field, I am a strong defensive catcher with a very solid and consistent bat. In the outfield, I have quick first step that allows me to get a good jump on the ball to cover those shots in the gap.
I pride myself in being extremely coach-able with a positive attitude and a great work ethic. I am never satisfied and always put in the extra work to get better. I look forward to putting in the work necessary to continue to develop my skills in order to take my game to the next level. I'm excited about the challenges college will bring both on the baseball field and in the classroom.
