Robert Koopman '27 Recruiting Profile

My name is Robby Koopman, and this is the story of how something I used to hate doing became all I ever think about. When I started playing baseball at around 8 years old it was simply a hobby. Unlike others, I dreaded finding the uniform to put on and waking up at 6 AM to get in the car on my way to early morning tournaments. Worst of all I dreaded putting on the helmet and gloves on my way to the box. baseball wasn't going so well and I wanted to quit the game altogether. Then one day something clicked, I went up to bat and finally got a solid hit. from that moment forward wherever my body was my mind would long to be on the diamond. my love for the game has instilled a drive in me to be the best possible ballplayer I can be. I have been active in the weight room consistently for around 12 months now and I've pushed my academic career upwards as I take on the challenge of advanced and AP classes. I always believe a good team starts with strong and deep friendships with teammates, coaches, and parents. I am ready and grateful for every new and challenging opportunity that I can get to continue playing baseball.
