“It’s not the will to win that matters -- everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.” ---Paul “Bear” Bryant
“Without self-discipline success is impossible, period.” --Lou Holtz
To get to the center of who I am and understand my goals, one must understand these quotes. The heart of these quotes is work ethic. Having a strong work ethic has to come first from the heart, followed by the head, then finally to one's actions. One can have goals, but without a strong work ethic, goals really mean nothing. My goals are to earn my masters degree in athletic training and play collegiate level baseball. These goals I have held to since I was about 10 years old. They are what drive me in my daily decisions with my school work and in my daily workouts. My goals will be achieved through my strong work ethic. Simply put: My goals drive me. My work ethic will get me there.
Playing baseball and being a part of a team is what identifies me. Being a part of a baseball team is where I am most comfortable. As a player, I bring to the team my solid skill set, my strong work ethic, and my enthusiasm for the game. With my experience of being on different types of teams with different types of teammates, I also bring to the team the thinking that the team comes first. This means a team player who understands that motivating and building each player is what is best for team success, and team success is what matters the most.
