Personal Statement

I have committed to Johns Hopkins University for 2015-16.

I am a 2014-15 National Merit Finalist with a 4.0 GPA (4.41 weighted). I am interested in International Relations or Political Science, and would like to attend an academically-select college such as an Ivy League-level university. I am currently a batboy for the Tulsa Drillers, AA-affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. I'm also an Eagle scout. I have played violin since age 2-1/2, and I also play Irish traditional music. I am graduating in May 2015

Junior year (2014): .347 BA (3rd on team), .475 SLG% (3rd); 3.38 ERA (2nd), 60%S (3rd), .969 FPCT; hit 2 homeruns (one in Aggie Classic to win game in extra innings; 2nd in regionals); (note: first season in 6A). ERA was 0.00 for all of March (6 appearances), and was under 1.43 for most of the season – until April 28th when one opponent raised it to 3.37. Finished 2nd on my team in ERA, with 60% strikes with four saves (no blown saves), and two wins. Overall record was 2-3, with two of the losses due to infielder errors.

Sophomore year (2013): pitched 27.2 innings, and finished with 1.52 ERA (63%S, 63%FPS, .198BAA, 27 Ks). My fastball has a top speed of 84 mph (avg 82 mph) I am currently a catcher with top pop time of 1.9 (avg 1.95). I also play 3B. In the summer of 2013, I led my team with a .625 OB%. I was 2nd in SLG% & 3rd in BA.
