Lukas McDowell '25 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing baseball since I was three years old. Every time I stepped onto the field, I couldn't imagine a day when I would leave and never return. That's why I have always dreamt of playing college ball, so I could continue doing what I love while continuing on in my life.

I am a 6'8 pitcher with strong mental toughness, amazing work ethic and unmatched coachability. If a coach tells me to try something new, I always do it. Even if it doesn't sound right to me, I don't hesitate because I know it could be just what I needed. My goal in every practice, in every game, is to be the best player out there and hope my team follows my example. When The pressure is highest, or when things aren't going my way, I always keep my cool and work one pitch at a time. I will be your hardest working teammate or student or classmate.

My dream is to play baseball professionally. However, I also understand you need backup plans. That is why I work hard and spend a lot of time on my education to maintain a 3.9 GPA. I have always loved math and physics, which is why I would like to pursue a career in engineering. I take AP-level math courses, and I work hard to earn grades in the 90's (A+).

I have played many sport in my life, from small local clubs, to high school varsity teams, to teams competing internationally. I've played baseball, football, track and field, and basketball at the high school level, and baseball and basketball at competitive levels. Last year I made the decision to commit 100% to baseball. In just one year of access to quality pitching coaches, I increased my fastball velocity from 72 to 86 mph.

I want to attend a college where I can develop my skills and continue my baseball career, while still having a solid education. I am open to many options so I can find the college that will suit me best. I hope that my friends and family will one day and say they knew me. I want to be that kid from that town that made something of his life and became a role model for all young athletes aspiring to do what they love.
