I have played baseball for the last several years for the Ontario Blue Jays. My team is generally considered to be the best team in Canada. This past year we were ranked 74th in North America by Perfect Game and were the only Canadian team ranked. This past summer we won a tournament in Florida, and I was named to the All-Tournament Team.
I am also a lead guitarist in a local band, which has been performing since 2016 and have been playing guitar since the age of ten. We performed at a charity event and recently, I was the featured guitarist at my school’s Remembrance Day concert and the featured soloist at the Christmas concert.
I chose engineering because it allows me to focus on sciences and math, my two favorite subjects. I want to eventually pursue mechanical engineering as it provides a broad foundation and I do not know yet where I want to specialize. Mechanical engineering will allow me to learn how to research and design using physics and math and can open the door to maybe go into medicine or pursue a master’s in engineering and eventually become a professional engineer.
