I love baseball and have set a goal to play at the highest level possible in college. For as long as I can remember baseball has been a part of my life and has connected generations of my family as fans. As a player, I learned early on that to get better I had to practice and that time on the field is earned. As I play more competitively I value and put in the necessary work off the field to get better, improve my game, and contribute to the team. I realize that when you make a commitment to move up another level in baseball, you can’t just stop working, you have to go out there and give 100% all of the time which is what I aim to do with every game. Learning from coaches, teammates, and those around me is what I am committed to.
As I think about being an athlete I also think about being a student which keeps me focused and grounded on my studies and has earned me Honor Roll status. I approach my schoolwork with the goal of developing and achievement as a student as I do as an athlete. I also enjoy having fun despite a serious appearance most times. I am definitely an athlete who is passionate about baseball and who likes to have fun with teammates. I am a competitor, student of the game, and losing has, and never will, feel good though I am able to look at a loss as a learning opportunity. Overall, sports (baseball and basketball) have helped me stay very focused, organized, prepared and disciplined on the field and in the classroom for sure.
Off the field and outside of the classroom I have volunteered at a non-profit basketball league teaching children to play basketball during the winter as well as at a baseball camp in the summer helping younger students learn the fundamentals of baseball over the past four years. Both volunteer experiences have been fun and ones I will continue as long as possible because kids are honest and so much fun. My senior school project is focused on charitable fundraising for the Children’s Miracle Network and to benefit Cancer and Crohns research.
In the end, I want to play at the collegiate level, contribute to a strong baseball program and team that values academics, competition, integrity, and is part of a bigger community. I am excited about this next level of baseball and cannot wait to find the right place to contribute to in my college years.
